Herbal Laxative Tea Supports A Healthy Digestive System
Monday, April 5th, 2010Herbal laxative tea is made of different herbs which makes it a little different than a regular tea. The main herb used is Senna, this is mostly used in stimulant laxatives. You will also find it in the famous Ballerina tea. Both of these are becoming popular as a detox system or a colon cleanse. People also use them as a weight loss aid.
A stimulant laxative that contains Senna will cause bowel movements, which is why people use them as a diet aid. Herbal laxative tea has licorice, fennel, anise and ginger added to it for the other benefits that help the senna herb.
The additives to herbal laxative tea are used for specific reasons. Licorice encourages a healthy liver, aids in using this tea as a colon cleanse, and gives you more energy. Ginger can make the cramps associated with drinking too much tea not as bad and it aids the digestive system. Fennel and anise support stomach concerns and also help with the cramps.
In recent years people have been looking towards traditional or alternative medicine for health issues. The Chinese have been using herbal teas for centuries because they knew it helped with regularity and total balance of the body.
Herbal laxative tea has become a weight loss tea for many people. This can be dangerous if not used properly. Herbal laxative tea can cause severe cramps and diarrhea if you use too much. Since everything you eat will come right back out you will also lose any vitamins you may have consumed. This tea is meant to be used in small amounts unless doing a detox. For that you will need to follow researched ways of doing it properly.
If losing weight is your goal just drink laxative tea in small amounts. This will help balance your system and you will shed pounds naturally. If you do drink too much of this tea your body can shut down its normal functions, do this too much and the effects cannot be reversed.
Herbal laxative tea is great if used for its intended purpose. There are many benefits of these teas including keeping your cholesterol down as well as being able to control your blood sugar levels. But there are too many out there that say they are for weight loss when they can harm you if not used properly.
Herbal laxative tea is definitely a great tea when used for the occasional colon cleanse but other herbal teas are better for weight loss.
